Psalms 107:8 reminds us.”Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” The psalmist repeats this exact verse three more times in this chapter. Certainly there needs to be an urgency out of God’s people to lift our offerings of praise back to our Heavenly Father. Two words should keep His praise on our lips till we enter Heavens gates, GRACE and MERCY. Where would we be without these evidences of His love?
I Cor 16:15 reminds us that the house of Stephanas had “addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints”. Paul also said of Mark, that he was “profitable” to Paul for the ministry. What a difference it makes in the life of a christian when they they move from the state of needing to be blessed, to having an overwhelming desire to be blessing. Some thrive on kind words that are said of them, and others are encouraged by speaking kindness to others. Some need someone else shoulders to carry their every burden, others always seem to leave a shoulder always ready to lift someone else. We need some Christians who are praying for God to make them a blessing. Many people are not faithful enough to the house of God to know where they can be a blessing. May we ask God to make us a blessing to the ministry of the saints.
If all the sleeping folks will wake up
If all lukewarm folks will fire up
If all dishonest folks will confess up
If all disgruntle folks will cheer up
If all depressed folks will smile up
If all estranged folks will make up
If all the gossipers will shut up
If all true soldiers will stand up
If all dry bones will shake up
If all church members will pray up
If all powerless will fill up
Then revival can come!!!!
Proverbs 29:18 reminds us, “where there is no vision the people perish. Jesus looked out on the multitude and was “moved with compassion” Oh, if we could get a true vision of a dying sinner and of a living Savior, what a impact we could make on the world.
A visions involves several things:
1. It involves PONDERING
2. It involves PREPARATION
3. It involves POWER
4. It involves PASSION
5. It involves PERSERVERANCE
“Let me see this world dear Lord, as though I were looking through your eyes”12 Through Your Eyes, Dear Lord
In 1607, William Bradford wrote this about the Pilgrims leaving England in search of freedom.
“They shook off this yoke of antichristian bondage, and as the Lord’s free people, joined themselves by a covenant of the Lord into a church estate in the fellowship of the gospel, to walk in all His ways, made known unto them, according to their best endeavors, whatsoever it should cost them, the Lord assisting them.”
I wonder if this spirit of revival could make a difference in 2011.
You Were There…
You were there when we took our first steps,
And went unsteadily across the floor.
You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided,
Until our steps took us out the door…
You worry now “Are they ok?”
Is there more you could have done?
As we walk the paths of our unknown
You wonder”Where have my children gone?”
Where we are is where you have led us,
With your special love you showed us a way,
To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make.
Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day.
And where we go you can be sure,
In spirit you shall never be alone.
For where you are is what matters most to us,
Because to us that will always be home…
